Personal Training - What's involved?

I work with men and women of all age groups and fitness levels on a one-to-one basis. You also have the option to train with a friend or partner, in which case you can enjoy the added support of a friend as well as lower rates. As your personal trainer, I will motivate and encourage you while adapting fitness routines to meet your individual needs, constantly striving to make your workout enjoyable.

Our first session will be a free consultation, dedicated to learning about your lifestyle and what goals you want to achieve - you may feel you want to lose weight, tone up or simply become healthier. Once that's established, I will do a couple of fitness tests and take a couple of physical measurements so I can monitor your progress!!!

Each session after that is of one hour's duration. I keep it fun, varied and tough each week. With the use of boxing gloves, medicine balls, weights, stability balls and cardio machines, each workout presents a new challenge.

Rates vary depending on what you're looking for, but you can rest assured, there are plenty of options to choose from:

  • You can opt to train one-to-one with me;
  • You can split the cost and train with a friend;
  • If there is a group of you, you may want a circuit class;
  • An hour long boxing workout available, gloves and pads provided!!!

The key is this: whatever your needs, I have a programme to suit you!

Why do I need a Personal Trainer? Here are the Top Ten Reasons...

Many people dismiss the idea of hiring a personal trainer because of pride (they think they should already know how to stay in condition), shame over their physical condition, or because of the cost.
It is an investment in your health and your quality of life - what good is money if you are not healthy and fit?
Consider the following 10 Reasons for working out with a personal trainer.

1. Motivation
Perhaps the single, biggest benefit of hiring a trainer is motivation. On their own, people lose motivation to stick with a consistent exercise programme. A Certified fitness trainer can provide structure, direction, accountability and a friend who is interested in helping you succeed.

2. Individualised programme
Too many people shy away from the gym, or from any sort of exercise because of chronic health conditions or injuries. A trainer will work with you and your health care provider to construct a safe and effective programme to reach your health goals.

3. Efficiency
The job of a personal trainer is to keep you focused on results. No wasted, ineffectual workouts. A personal trainer will devise a plan which will help you get maximum results in minimum time.

4. You're Not Seeing Results
If you've been exercising consistently for several weeks or months and aren't seeing the changes you'd like, hiring a trainer may be a good choice. A trainer can look at your current programme and eating habits and help you see where you could make changes to create more effective workouts. A trainer can also help you determine if the goals you've set are realistic for you.

5. You are new to exercise
If you are an absolute beginner, a personal trainer is the ultimate fitness coach. Save yourself alot of wasted time and ineffective effort and frustration by having a programme designed by a trainer. Not only will you gain strength and lose fat more quickly, but you will do it safely and with an understanding of what you are doing each step of the way. You will be able to go into any gym with confidence that you know what you are doing.

6. Break through plateaus
Perhaps you are in fairly good shape already, but you haven't been able to progress beyond a certain point. If you are stuck in the same routine and want to break out of a rut, a trainer is the perfect solution. A trainer will jump start, not only your motivation, but your routine as well.

7. Learn how to go it alone
If you ultimately want to learn to be able to workout on your own so you don't need to use a trainer, going for a few months may be all you need. All good trainers will teach you the basics of building and modifying a fitness programme to achieve maximum results.

8. Workout Safely
A trainer watches your form, monitors your vitals and can provide objective feedback about your limits and strengths. Most of us tend to ignore some of the subtle signals our body provides. We either push through pain or give up too soon. Because a trainer watches what you are doing while you are doing it, they can help push you or slow you down as necessary.

9. Workout with friends in the comfort of a private studio or in your own home.
If you don't have the time or interest in going to a gym, but have a hard time knowing what to do on your own at home, you can work out with a trainer in the privacy of a studio. Working out with your friends is also an option. This will give you added support and lower the cost.

10. Weight Loss
The number one reason people hire personal trainers is to lose weight and get into shape because, well...it works. If you made a resolution to lose the fat and build muscle, a trainer can keep you on track and help you realize that goal.
